Still Life Watercolor Painting with Lemons and Cherries

I finished this one yesterday, it needs a couple of tweaks but other than that it is finished, I just needed a break from the detail of the car. I am going to start a couple more hopefully today as the are a lot faster than the larger more detailed works. the painting is 8×10 the photo of it is not the best, a little blown out on the lighter areas.

  1. Lynda I layered yellow first (let it dry) then I glazed it with a blue green and before it was dry I applied coarse salt. Once it was dry I brushed the salt off. : )

  2. I love this painting 🙂 I'm wondering, can I post this on my blog? I have a post that mentions water color and lemons, and I'd love to have this next to it. Of course I'd include a caption crediting you and a link to your blog.

  4. Thank you, Christiane, Carl, Carol, Barb, Nureeya, Karen, r garriott, Barbra, Dors, Jorda, Teresa, Tim, Carol, Becky and Davida I am very pleased with this painting especially the background.

Davida this is a still life that I did set up in real life. I worked from that and pictures I had taken of it(the cherries do not last long enough here lol)

  5. Beautifully done! Working from photographs can be difficult especially if the quality is questionable. Do you ever set still lives and work from them directly?

  6. Krista:
This might be my favorite of all your paintings. There is so much to like: colors, detail, background, shading and reflections. So well done!

  7. Hello Krista, just got back to visiting everyone after a long spell. (Moving and life just getting in the way.) I've caught up with your posts and so sorry to hear about your little goat. Your paintings are as lovely as ever. The photos of the show are just great.!

  8. This is a fantastic painting. Wow! And the background is so wonderful with its subtle glow and great textures. The cherries look real enough to eat. Super job as usual!
