Artist Statement

My artwork is an expression of the natural world that transcends beyond just painting beautiful pictures.  It allows me to share my deep connection with nature and the feeling that I am part of something grander. This fuels me with unlimited inspiration.

I work with watercolor on rice paper, using wax as a resist. The watercolor and rice paper impart a glowing quality and the wax leaves a strong visual texture. The veins of texture travel throughout my work to create a distinct portrait of nature.

Biography

Krista Hasson is an artist who paints our natural world. It is an expression that transcends beyond just painting beautiful pictures. She is conveying her overwhelming inspiration.  A feeling that she is part of something bigger, and a deep connection with nature

Krista was on the Community One cable TV show “Studio Tour”. She was a top 10 finalist in the International Artists magazine’s floral competition. As a result, she had a full page write-up with a picture of “Show Stopper” published in the magazine. Rogers Chocolates licensed her “Sunflowers” watercolor for their Canadian artist collection of chocolate tins. The Proxim Group also licensed her artwork “Garden Staple” for their 2015 calendar cover.

Being a self-taught artist she loves to experiment and strives for artistic growth. She recently began plein air painting as a building block for her skills. Krista was born in Saint John NB. For the last 15 years, she has lived in Rothesay NB  with her husband, daughter, and their cocker spaniel Jak.
