Okay, I am caught up lol :). This is what I am talking about when I say loose. I really enjoyed painting this even though I find yellow flowers harder to paint than other colors. What color do you have the hardest time with? Let me know :). So glad I decided to do the...
Sunflower #5 – Day 5 of 30 in 30 days painting challenge. This is another beautiful sunflower that came from the local flower shop. They sell them in bunches of 3, guess this might be my last one lol. Don’t forget for the 30 days of the challenge, I am offering free...
Sunflower #4 – Day 4 of 30 in 30 days painting challenge. This is another beautiful sunflower that came from the local flower shop. They sell them in bunches of 3, guess what I am painting tomorrow lol. Again is not as realistic as my first two paintings for...
Sunflower #3 – Day 3 of 30 in 30 days painting challenge. This beautiful sunflower came from the local flower shop. These are one flower I do not grow in my garden, not sure why they are one of my favorites. This is not as realistic as my first two paintings for the...
So here I am with only 2 days left for the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge, I am already feeling like I miss it lol. Strange, I thought that having to do a daily painting would be a lot of pressure but it wasn’t. I am having so much fun I don’t want to...
I love walking uptown and taking pictures. This bus was on Leinster Street, beside St. Malachy’s High School. I am not sure why I took a picture of it but I am glad I did, it made for a fun little painting. Thanks for looking. Don’t forget to visit...
I was thrilled earlier this year when Rogers Chocolates licensed the right to reproduce my painting “Sunflowers” for one of their Canadian Artists Series chocolate tins. I had bought a few as gifts for friends and family and I had one left. I decided...
I have finished many new paintings lately, I have not had a lot of computer time as I am getting ready for many upcoming events. This watercolor on rice paper is 18 x 26″ . I find posting these on blogger really dulls the color down, I saturated this a bit more...
I am calling this one done, I will frame it tomorrow after I have a chance to stare at it for a while just to make sure. Feels good to have it done. I was just excited to pull the tape off of the edges (that is the best part)Hope everyone has an awesome week!
I thought I would post this on my studio easel to give you a better idea of the size. It is a full sheet of 200 pound cold press paper. I am getting close to having this done, I will post it up close as soon as it is finished.
Update before this:I posted my latest update and then the one before that so you could see the difference. I have done a lot of work on this even though at first glance it may not look like it. The biggest thing was adding some warmth to the shadows. I also added...
Here it is all done. At the very end once I was done with the petals I tweaked the background adding some dark and vibrant bits of color for more contrast.
Once my initial layer was dry I went back and added another layer to deepen the colors. Also adding some red to get some nice violets. Once this is dry I will repeat this step to get the darkness that I want.
This is one of the ones I started back with the Clematis painting. I will post this in between the sunflower. It is 11×14 on 200 pond cold pressed paper. I masked out the petals and stems then loosely dropped in some blue and yellow following the light pattern in...
I continued working on the petal and starting some of the layers on the centers. All of the centers started out blue and were glazed over top with other colors. It is much brighter in real life, I am not sure why but blogger always seems to darken the pictures I...
I wet the background and dropped in random colors letting them mingle on the paper. I also started defining some of the petals on the inside sunflower.
This is also acrylic done in the same manner as I would glaze my watercolors. It is 8×10″ and mounted on a gallery wood support.
