Artist Statement
My art is a reflection of how I move through the world—with curiosity, sensitivity, and a deep connection to nature. I explore one medium at a time, immersing myself fully before moving on to the next. This evolving approach isn’t scattered—it’s intuitive, and it keeps my work fresh, alive, and deeply personal.
From luminous watercolor batiks to richly textured oil paintings and, more recently, expressive paper collages made from hand-painted papers—I follow what inspires me. My creative process is rooted in play, texture, and emotion, often sparked by quiet moments in nature or simple objects that hold meaning. Each piece is a celebration of presence, beauty, and the joy of making.
Biography
KKrista Hasson is a Canadian artist whose work spans watercolor, batik, oil, acrylic, and mixed media and collage. Known for her expressive, nature-inspired paintings, Krista brings a sense of wonder and tactile richness to every piece—whether it’s a glowing floral batik or a layered still life built from hand-painted papers.
Her watercolor work has been featured in International Artist magazine and licensed by Rogers Chocolates. Her distinctive watercolor batiks were showcased on the cable TV show Studio Tour and selected for the cover of The Proxim Group’s calendar.
Krista’s creative journey is fueled by experimentation. After focusing primarily on watercolor batik and oil painting, she shifted toward small mixed media still lifes and now works primarily in collage—tearing and layering her own hand-painted papers into vibrant compositions. She’s a self-taught artist, and her work reflects the freedom and curiosity that come from learning through doing.
Originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, Krista now lives and works in Rothesay with her husband.
